Help 21 Families Rebuild After Devastating Fire in Cagayan de Oro
Yesterday, a devastating fire tore through Sarat Compound, Zone-4, Brgy. Agusan in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. In just a matter of hours, 21 families lost their homes, their belongings, and the sense of safety we all take for granted.
This community is very close to my heart. I grew up in Sarat Compound before moving to the Netherlands 16 years ago. The people affected are not strangers—they are my childhood friends, neighbors, and families I have known my whole life.
I don’t usually ask people for donations because I know that everyone is facing their own challenges and responsibilities. I truly believe that even when we are experiencing financial difficulties ourselves, we can still find ways to help others. I normally work hard to earn extra money to support my family and assist people back home. However, this situation is beyond what my family and I can manage on our own. That’s why I am humbly asking for your help—so we can help them.
Right now, these families are facing unimaginable loss. Many escaped with only the clothes they were wearing. They urgently need support for:
• Temporary shelter
• Food and clean water
• Clothing and basic necessities
• Medicines and hygiene supplies
• Rebuilding their homes
I am starting this fundraiser to help them get back on their feet. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward supporting these families during this incredibly difficult time. Your help—big or small—will surely lessen the burden these families are carrying.
Transparency is very important to me. I will be posting regular updates on how the funds are distributed and used. I will also coordinate directly with trusted contacts in the community to ensure help reaches those who need it most. The money collected will be distributed equally among the affected families so they can purchase materials to rebuild their homes.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this message. Your support can make a real difference in helping these families rebuild their lives.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
