Sara’s Journey: Keeping Her Furry Family Intact

My name is Sara and this is the story of me and my furry family.

In 2022, I got my first solo apartment in a long time since my divorce. I was working next door at my very first job as a tattoo artist. I’ve always had a love for cats in particular, and my boss’ cat had just had a litter of kittens. For two weeks, he and his family were in Texas for vacation, and I was house-sitting—the whole time intentionally not looking directly at the kittens for more than a second. I know myself, and I didn’t want to give myself the chance to fall in love with one. A month later, all had been adopted out except one. My boss begged me, “Come on, you know you want this last kitten—take it off my hands, please!”

I sighed, “Which one is it that’s left?”
“The one that attacks the Great Dane.”

Next thing I know, I’m sneaking a kitten into my apartment building inside a laundry hamper.

That’s how I got Karen. She and I immediately became inseparable—she’s been my ride or die ever since.

But life rarely goes as planned… I lost my apartment about a year later, forced to find friends willing to let us both stay for a while. Karen’s never left my side.

Fast forward to 2024 - my mother passed away 3 days after my birthday, leaving me effectively alone since my father preceded her in death in Nov of 2000 when I was just 10 years old. Without any support or even contact with any remaining family (mother's side only), I’ve been struggling to get a foothold on life.

My boyfriend and I suddenly had a stroke of luck when we found a 1974 Dodge Coachmen motorhome in impossibly great condition! We purchased it with the plan of taking our little trio out west in search of warmer weather and greener grasses… We left Indiana and stopped in Battle Creek, Michigan to make some small repairs before continuing out west. That’s when tragedy struck—

Overnight, someone stole our motorhome. Suddenly, we are left with nothing. With no IDs even (wallets were inside) and no clothes or anything, we were forced to start over YET AGAIN.

Over the summer, Karen apparently met a boy… and suddenly on Sept 8th, 2025, our family grew… she had four kittens—two boys and two girls. Initially, I planned on keeping one, maybe two… but I slowly realized I didn’t know anyone I felt I could trust 100% to take one of these kittens…

Having come from a highly abusive home and being autistic myself, I have really strong emotional attachment issues surrounding the idea of “breaking up a family” or “splitting up siblings,” and one by one, I fell in love with each of these little gremlins.

A Light At the End of the Tunnel—

I had an idea for an invention of sorts… built a prototype (AMAZING SUCCESS) and am now in the process of putting my device into production. This will literally turn our entire lives around—but any sales are months out yet, and these kittens and mama are needing fixed—lest they mate with one another, and I can’t have that.

I'm hoping that some of you kind people will see this and be able to help—I'm willing to accept whatever terms you are most comfortable with—not only will I provide any receipts and utmost transparency, but if you’d prefer to donate on our behalf to a vet in my area, then I’ve got no problem with that. From what I’ve researched, it seems like $800 +/- will cover the cost of the five of them.

Please, if you love kitties and you love success stories from soft-hearted underdogs like myself, please help me keep my furry family together.
