Yesterday evening, our dear friend and community member Sara Bizzotto was the victim of carbon monoxide poisoning and is currently hospitalized. Thankfully, she is expected to recover, but she will likely be facing time away from work, medical bills, veterinary expenses for her pets, and other unexpected challenges in the weeks ahead.

Sara was incredibly fortunate—she woke up feeling unwell and was able to call for emergency help in time. Because of her quick action, she is here today. Now it’s our turn to show up for someone who has always shown up for others.

I am sharing this as a representative of Sara’s friends, who wanted to create a clear and meaningful way for people to help support her during this recovery period. In addition to focusing on her own health, Sara will need to ensure her pets are safe and healthy, which may involve veterinary care and related costs during and after her hospitalization.

This fund is intended to help ease the burden of medical expenses, missed work, veterinary costs, and any other needs that may arise so Sara can focus fully on healing. Any contribution—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference and is deeply appreciated.

We also want to take this moment as a reminder to please check your carbon monoxide detectors and ensure they are functioning properly with fresh batteries. This situation could have turned out very differently, and safety truly saves lives.
