As many of you know I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer a year ago. It put the breaks on life as I know it. So many have been supportive - helping me make ends meet during the chemo and radiation treatments.
Thus far the treatments have been successful - however, when treatments stop— you still experience the side effects. Over the course of the last 30 days I have been admitted to the hospital three times. There is significant intestinal blockage that has not responded to treatment. The only option is another surgery. Tomorrow, (July 19) I will go through laparoscopic surgery to determine if I need to be cleaned out or if they will need to be more invasive and remove part of my small intestines.
Some have asked me how they can help … and I am so grateful and humbled by the pure love and help I have received. Needless to say the medical bills are piling up. I’ve been approved for SSDI but Medicare doesn’t kick in for another year. The disability payments cover my basic living — but that leaves nothing for medications, medical fees, etc. A percentage is reduced through the hospital charity foundation.
I am arbitrarily selecting 20k. I can always adjust accordingly. I want to get well and shift my life focus and mission to help others navigate the system/process. Hopefully be in a position to pay it forward in my future.
