Sa’Rai suffered with Down Syndrome which is a genetic disorder caused when abnormal cell division results in an extra full or partial copy of chromosome 21. This extra genetic material causes the developmental changes and physical features of Down syndrome. Many of the disabilities are lifelong, and they can also cause shorten of life. Sa’Rai lost her battle to debilitating disorder at the age of eleven. Yet, still Sa’Rai’s life was fulfilling even in spite of the medical conditions that was cause by the disorder. She inspired so many individuals to love hard, as her spiritual inspiration gave you the comfort, she demanded fairness in the education system to get what she needed. Embracing who she was full of life, not letting the barriers or developmental challenges stop her courage or strength to move beyond them and keep moving forward.
Did you know that? Early interventions can greatly increase the quality of life for children and adults with this disorder and help them live fulfilling lives. Our organization thought that we would educate our communities. To better understand how to prevent millions of other individuals from experiencing the same. Thorough knowledge of such conditions is essential when determining the most advantageous methods for educating them popularly. While most individuals look at the disorder as a disability or a life filled with developmental changes, our goal is to change that perception. Looking at the disorder has a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something great! There is nothing down about an individual who has this disorder. To be touched by their loving and tender solicitude. It’s not about celebrating disabilities but letting the world be aware of the many accomplishments and abilities that they possess.
L.I.F.E. will provide mentoring, resources, and inspiration to a community at large. We will collaborate with individuals who live with Down Syndrome daily through various types of gatherings. Our goal is to strengthen, encourage, inspire, and validate all Down syndrome individuals in their unique and difficult journeys. Ultimately our aim is to empower Down syndrome individuals and their families. They will come away from events, gatherings, or retreats by gifting their knowledge that they have support and resources to become bright, educated, empowered, active and thriving members of our society.
