Sarah's Flood Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Sarah, and in the Carlisle Floods of 2015, my house was flooded. We were evacuated from the house by boat as the street flooded, and are currently living in temporary accomodation.

It will cost £5,000 to repair the flood damage and restore my home to become habitable, before I replace the furniture.
Phase 1:
The immediate restoration work to make the house safe will require all the floorboards to be taken up and removed, the joists on the ground floor to be sprayed with a fungicide and dehumidifiers to suck out the damp. This phase costs £2,000. This needs to start immediately, and should be complete by mid-January.
Phase 2:
The floors will then need to be re-laid with plywood planks. The cost I've been quoted for the ground floor will be £1,000. This will need to be done after the joists are dried out, and we hope it will be completed by February.
Phase 3:
The carpet will then need to be replaced, and laid on top of the plywood boards and that has been quoted at £2,000. This could be done in March if we have the funds and the previous phases are able to be completed.
This would mean so much to me because the damage was not covered by insurance and I have no other way of paying for the repairs to my home.
I would be more grateful than words can say to anyone who would be willing to help out and get us back on our feet, and more than willing to pass it forward and help others as well. The floods have affected a community as much as anything and if I can help others as well as myself, it would bring a great deal of joy to the area I live in.
