When I moved to my new community, I was immediately struck by the number of stray cats wandering the streets. While some of my neighbors saw them as a nuisance, I saw animals in desperate need of help and compassion. I began feeding them every day and night, determined to make a difference in their lives. Through this journey, I discovered the TNR (trap-neuter-release) program, which offers a humane way to control the stray population and give these cats a better future. As a college student without a steady income, I’ve dedicated my time and resources to fostering neonatal kittens and caring for two mother cats and their litters. My dream is to one day open a cat sanctuary, but for now, I’m focused on providing food, vet care, and spay/neuter surgeries to as many cats as I can. My local spay and neuter center has surgeries that run about $50–$100 per cat, and currently I have 5–10 cats in my care that need to be spayed or neutered. Flea medication costs around $50–$70, which is essential for their health and safety. Additionally, I’m raising money to continue feeding the 10+ cats in my neighborhood, with food costs ranging from $20–$40. The need is urgent—my county has the highest euthanasia rates in Florida and one of the worst-kept animal shelters in the country. I want to give these animals the shot at life they deserve, and I’m committed to being the one who makes that difference. All I ask is that you donate what you can—every little bit helps, and every dollar will go directly to helping animals in need. I’ve also raised some funds through my Depop account (@sellingclothessavingcats), but it’s not enough to help all the animals who need it. Together, we can show these cats the love and care they deserve and create a safer, kinder community for them.
