Sarah’s song for First Descents

The picture above is of the beautiful and immensely talented Sarah Carty. Sarah who was a superb writer, athlete (especially at camogie) and singer with a heart of gold and love of adventure passed away aged 28 with a very rare and aggressive form of cancer.

 

Before her passing, Sarah was the first Irish participant to participate in the “First Descents”program. This charity provides life changing outdoor adventures for young adults (age 18-39) impacted by caner and other serious health conditions.

 

Sarah had the most incredible experience there and wanted to share the news of this program with everyone so that more young people could avail.

 

July 2022 marks the release of “Sarah’s song” (i gcónaí ann) to commemorate Sarah and in doing so raise funds for and awareness of the work that First Descents does.

In doing so we hope that others who have been impacted by serious illnesses can participate, providing them with an incredible support system and the most amazing adventure experience.
