Hello everyone,
I set up this GoFundMe to help raise funds for my sister, Sarah Betancourt. On Friday, May 7th, 2021, she was involved in a head-on collision on Cajon Blvd. that resulted in significant injuries.
At the time of impact, many wonderful people stopped to make sure my sister was okay and called 911 immediately. Due to the extent of her injuries, she was rushed to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where she stayed for a few days before being transferred to Kaiser Permanente. The staff at Arrowhead was wonderful and extremely helpful, I truly believe they set the standard for us on quality care and we have been so fortunate that Kaiser staff is also meeting the same.
Sarah's injuries will require a lot of down time do to their nature. At this time she has a broken tibia on her left leg and more extensive fractures on her right leg including a broken tibia and fibula, shattered kneecap, and a broken femur. She is fortunate enough to have been able to get reconstructive surgeries on both legs so soon after the accident which will in turn allow Sarah to start her healing journey. These injuries will leave Sarah unable to work for at minimum 6 months as she is currently unable to walk. Once she is able to put weight on her legs again she will begin the second part of her journey, going through extensive rehabilitation to get herself back to where she once was.
Sarah is strong and courageous and we as her family are just so incredibly thankful to know she is still with us. This journey will be long and difficult but we are all prepared to do everything we can to make sure she is supported along the way. This GoFundMe being one of the ways, while we can support her financially to an extent we also know that there is an extent to our means and that is why we are reaching out for any and all donations the public can provide for Sarah. We want to ensure that monthly expenses are something she will not have to worry about so that she can exhaust all thoughts on her recovery.
