I'm running the London Marathon on the 26th April 2026 in memory of George's cousin Jake McCarthy, who tragically died 24th December 2012 due to an undiagnosed brain tumour. Jake was only 24 at the time and has been missed ever since. I never had the privilege of meeting Jake but the stories and memories that have been shared with me over the years have made it clear what a special person he was and how much he was loved by everyone who knew him.

The Jake McCarthy Foundation was set up by his loving family in 2013 to raise awareness of the symptoms of brain tumours, fund research and ensure early diagnosis. Raising money for the foundation will help prevent other families from experiencing such a tragic and devastating loss.

Knowing that each mile I run on the 26th helps raise more awareness for this amazing charity honestly fills my heart and 99.9% chance I’ll be crying when I cross the finish line lol.
