Sarah's MS Hope Trust...

Some of you reading this will know our friend Sarah Irvine. She is married to Gareth, with 2 beautiful daughters.

What most of you won’t know is that a few years ago Sarah was diagnosed with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PPMS), a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the protective covering of the nerve cells in the brain, optic nerve and spinal cord. Over time, this is very debilitating.

Since diagnosis Sarah has been incredibly brave! In her own words she describes having ‘just about every test possible’. For a period of time we thought that Sarah’s treatment had successfully slowed the progress of the disease but the recent prognosis is that it continues to progress. Any disease diagnosis is terrible, to see MS slowly impact Sarah’s life is difficult.

There is some good news, Sarah has been accepted for an innovative new treatment in the UK to hopefully “stop her MS from progressing further”. Essentially this will give Sarah a new immune system. Put simply, we hope to stop the MS from progressing and keep Sarah from needing to use a wheelchair.

The treatment is expensive and there is no insurance to cover the cost. With Sarah’s blessing, a number friends and family have got together to create a trust, dedicated to covering the cost of treatment for Sarah.

Our goal is to get to over €110,000 through a series of fundraising activities to provide this life changing treatment.

Sarah has been incredibly brave throughout. She has continued to be amazing, her job as ‘super mom’ is never neglected. She remains unbelievably positive and is so generous with her time for others.

But at this point she really needs our help. We need the treatment start early in 2024!
