Sarah Morsy is a woman of many talents. She is a beloved singer, dedicated musician and student, and passionate childcare worker who has touched the lives of many with her skills and compassion. She has always been one to give her all to her work and the people around her. However, Sarah's life changed drastically after she was involved in a devastating car wreck on April 14th that left her car totaled.
THE ACCIDENT: While cruising at a safe speed of 65, Sarah looked to her right to make sure it was safe to merge. In the quick second it took to look over her shoulder, the traffic in front of her had come to a complete and sudden stop. Despite braking as hard as she could, popping a tire in the strain, Sarah collided with the vehicle in front of her, sending that vehicle into the next in turn. Sarah was trapped for a time inside her smoking vehicle, and had to be pulled out by the others involved in the accident.
Despite the trauma and pain of the accident, Sarah remains positive, focused, and determined to get back on track. Unfortunately, she was recently dealt another devastating set-back when she realized that her insurance company made several grave errors in her policy; this mismanagement means she was, unknowingly, severely under-insured at the time of the accident. Even after their error was pointed out, the insurers refuse to cover her.
THE EMERGENCY: With the prospect of lawsuits from the other parties involved, and without reliable transportation to work, Sarah is facing bankruptcy. We cannot let this happen to Sarah, a woman who gives so much to others. As a community, we can come together to help Sarah raise the funds she needs to purchase a new vehicle and hire a lawyer to fight with her car insurance provider.
WHERE WILL FUNDS GO?
- New Transportation: Sarah's car is not just a mode of transportation but also a vital tool in her line of work. Her livelihood depends on having a reliable form of transportation to get to and from her various jobs. Currently, $3,000 would get her a new transmission OR be a solid down payment for a new (used) car.
- Legal Representation: Sarah and her family are retaining a lawyer to sue her insurance company and require them to cover her to the degree that their policy agreed to. Sarah also needs representation to protect her if she is sued by those she collided with. $5,000-$7,000 would cover legal consultations, retainer, and various billing/court fees.
- Miscellaneous: Sarah is relying on Uber and public transit to get her to her various commitments. The expense and difficulty has severely reduced her capability to accept as many paid opportunities as before. $1,000-$2,000 would cover transportation costs, utilities, and rental assistance while she secures a new car.
We urge everyone to join us in this fundraising campaign and help Sarah get back on her feet. Let's show our support for a woman who has given so much to the community and deserves a break. Every small donation counts and will go a long way in helping Sarah overcome this difficult time. Thank you for your generosity in advance!
