Help Us Open Our Own Shop!

Tax deductible
Sarah Bellum's Bakery & Workshop  is a non-profit, social enterprise program whose mission is to improve the lives of adults with brain injury through job training in a real-world bakery program. We provide return-to-work opportunity for adults with acquired brain injury to create purpose and meaning in their lives while developing functional skills and learning to return to the workforce.

Founded in 2017 as a program of Brain Injury Connections Northwest (BIC-NW), Sarah Bellum's Bakery & Workshop has developed and grown from a small volunteer program to a growing team collaboration of survivors of brain injury, students from speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation psychology who inspire the community to "change lives one cupcake at a time"! We have been renting space in commercial kitchens and selling our delicious cupcakes made with organic ingredients at local farmer's markets in the Portland, OR metro region. It's time for the next phase of our development to get into our own shop!

Your donations will help us reach this next important milestone to get into our own shop, which will include a commercial kitchen preparation space for baking our cupcakes and also a retail café area to sell our products, gather to enjoy a cup of coffee and cupcake, and continue to share important information about living with brain injuries. With our own brick-and-mortar shop, we will be able to sustain and grow our programs to provide job opportunities, meaning, and purpose to adults with acquired brain injuries. Our vision is to see every adult with acquired brain injury who wants to re-enering the workforce.

Donations are tax-deductible through BIC-NW, our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, not-for-profit parent organization. Every dollar donated goes directly into supporting Sarah Bellum's Bakery & Workshop.

We will be moving into our new shop in the heart of Multnomah Village, a quaint community in SW Portland, OR on October 1, 2018. We are raising $25,000 to build-out and customize the space with commercial kitchen requirements, including costs to move plumbing lines and re-build walls to comply with food production regulations as well as another $25,000 for equipment to set-up our kitchen and shop space. Customization is critical to best support adults with acquired brain injury, including equipment that will be ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible, and ample storage space to avoid clutter and maintain organization.

If you're in the Portland, OR area and can join us for our fundraiser event on September 13, 2018, please also check our the details and purchase tickets online at our EventBrite site .

Follow us on Facebook , Instagram , and Twitter.

We hope you can help us make our vision a reality. Please share and help spread the word about this important work and help us keep changing lives one cupcake at a time!
