Funeral Svcs for Sara Harris, 25
Donation protected
The disease of opioid addiction and the debilitating devastation it leaves behind strikes with no regard to socio-economic level, race, color, creed, gender, or age. Now, this harsh reality has struck a friend and colleague of ours, Andrea Harris, who ironically works at the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Andrea’s daughter, Sara Elizabeth Harris, died this Tuesday afternoon at the age of 25 after a lengthy struggle with a substance use disorder, opioid addiction. In addition to the unfathomable grief that Andrea is feeling, she discovered the next morning that the paid up term life insurance policy for Sara had expired, leaving no money to cover expenses for a funeral and related expenses.
While family, friends and colleagues have been great in assisting Andrea, there is a financial need that cannot be met with insurance funds or Andrea’s current financial situation. While she is hesitant to accept money from family, friends, colleagues and people in the substance use treatment and recovery field, as her friends and colleagues we are reaching out on her behalf to request your assistance in helping her cover the funeral costs. We have worked with the funeral home regarding these costs and are requesting donations to cover the $15,000 in expenses that Andrea will incur.
Words cannot express the gratitude that Andrea and her family will feel if you are able to help them meet this critical need. The funeral will be held in the next week, so contributions are needed as soon as possible.
