Sarah's Trek for PKDF
I am trekking through the foothills of the Indian Himalayas to raise awareness for Polycystic Kidney Disease. My Dad has it, and has been through dialysis, transplant and is now battling Lymphoma as a result of the immunosuppressant drugs that he takes everyday.
For those who don't know, Polycystic kidney disease (PKD or PCKD, also known as polycystic kidney syndrome) is a genetic disorder in which the renal tubules become structurally abnormal, resulting in the development and growth of multiple cysts within the kidney.
It has profoundly affected my family, as my paternal Grandmother, and paternal Uncle both had/have the disease.
So, to raise awareness, and to do something out of my own comfort zone I am partaking in this amazing opportunity whilst raising money for the PKD Foundation.(https://pkdcharity.org.uk/)
I have to get to my goal of £3149.00 by August 2019 so please donate what you can :D
