Sarah's campaign for RYDAL PENRHOS LIMITED

Staff and a pupil at Rydal Penrhos are working on a special project to assist a local hospital during a time of crisis.

Sixth Form pupil Jamie Lavery, together with Design Technology teacher Mark Harmsworth and technician James Bonser, are working on providing protective headwear for doctors and nurses to use during the current coronavirus pandemic.

They were asked by a parent who works for the NHS if they could help in any way, and the trio are using the school’s state-of-the-art 3D Printers situated in the Design Technology department.

The manufacturing will result in PLA headbands with an acetate face shield, which will be supplied to Ysbyty Gwynedd and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in their fight against Covid-19 in the coming weeks.

Each mask costs around £2.50 to produce and the team are making ten per day at the present time.

Rydal Penrhos will be covering the majority of the cost but are asking members of the school and the wider community to make a donation so that they can increase production at a very difficult time for the National Health.

The school is also looking for a second 3D Printer so that they can increase production.
