Good day; my name is Chris and with my son Leon we are undertaking a fundraising walk to raise funds for the Sarah Thorne Theatre in Broadstairs.

This walk will begin at Minnis Bay and follow the Coastal Path route to Broadstairs, pausing for dramatic readings reflecting upon the day of the Battle of Trafalgar on its anniversary on 21 October 2026.

The funds raised will assist in supporting the work of the theatre, which has been recently acquired through an auction of redundant KCC property and needs to attract new funds to continue and expand upon its current programme to maintain growth and momentum.

The Sarah Thorne Theatre CIC was formed in 2007 in answer to a request from KCC Adult Education to re open, operate and restore, the long disused theatre on the Hilderstone site in Broadstairs.

The theatre is run by a professional management and technical crew, plus a loyal group of vital and dedicated volunteers.

When KCC relocated from the site in 2025 the theatre was acquired at auction and continues its full range of professional and community activity, which now includes a collaboration on site with Coastal Community Learning.

Please contribute to this important part of our community cultural life, and come and meet us on the day of the walk to hear the high points of a great day in our nations history.
