Sarah The Parenting Coach - Connecting families

Hi, I'm Sarah, The Parenting Coach! Or at least that's what I want to be. Some of you already know me as family, a friend or even as your nanny. For those that don’t, let me give you a little intro. I grew up in Australia with my amazing family. My mum was a teacher, and while I didn’t want to be a teacher, I naturally gravitated toward care and education. I started out babysitting, and when I graduated high school, I started my career in Early Childhood Education, working as a nursery nurse at one of Perth's most innovative Early Learning and Development Services. I quickly progressed to leading a team, developing my expertise and obtaining my Diploma in Children's Services.
Realising that to really make a difference and be able to deliver excellent childcare lies in supporting parents at home. I moved to London to work as a full-time nanny. For the next 13 years, I worked across Europe supporting families with children of all ages. Over this time, I saw how the key to successful parenting lay in the parents feeling confident in themselves as a parent. Skip forward to 2019, and I thought it was time for something new, a big adventure. A year in South America, to be exact. I quit my job and gave notice on my house; except we all know what happened next….COVID 19. I moved in with my very new partner for “A couple of weeks while this all blows over,” but it didn’t. I was in Newcastle with no job and no plans. While it was wonderful to have extra time with my partner, he continued working through the pandemic, and I had a lot of time on my hands. Trying to look on the bright side, I decided this was the perfect time for self-care and reflection. I read, journaled, meditated and practiced yoga. I zoomed with friends, took long walks and listened to hours of pod casts. This was all great, except something didn’t feel right. I wasn’t making the impact I wanted in the world.
The past 3 years have been a mash-up of working on my mental health, completing my business MBA and working as a self-employed nanny. While doing the Jay Shetty Live Your Passion Business MBA I started to realise what I really wanted to do was support families to raise good humans. All this work I had done on myself had taught me something. I was learning how to
- Feel my feelings
- Regulate my feelings
- Communicate more effectively and
- Cope (at least a little) better with life challenges.
This realisation offered me a dream. Imagine a world where kids grew up knowing how to regulate, knowing how to deal with conflict and knowing it's okay to not be okay but here’s the tools to help. Imagine if I could support families to raise those kinds of kids. Don't get me wrong, the world wouldn’t be perfect, but it would sure make life a little easier.
I kept working on this idea. I knew that with my experience and knowledge, I could help families. But how? How do I put what's in my head into a teachable format? During my research, I discovered the term ‘Parenting Coach’.
A Parenting Coach is a supportive mentor that helps parents to find a new way to parent. Using tools of
- Connect
- Communication
- Collaboration and
- Cooperation to achieve family goals.
This sounded right up my alley. From there, I discovered Jai.
Jai Institute is the world’s leading Parenting Coach Certification, helping tens of thousands of families discover a path to parenting rooted in empathy, connection, and communication. Jai teaches a 13-step methodology built on the foundations of
- Brain Science
- Attachment Science
- Emotional Intelligence
- And Nervous System Science.
After a 3-day online seminar, I could feel it in my bones THIS is what I need. THIS is the next step in my career, and THIS certification will allow me to support and mentor families at the root of it all. I felt like I was talking to my people. Like they could interpret what I was trying to say inside my head. I love what I do. I love working with kids and their families. This certification feels so right for me.
So now, here is where you come in. Education comes at a cost. I am asking for your donations so I can pay for the full tuition of my course in one lump sum. As I attended the seminar, Jai have offered a reduced price of £2754. I have put the mark at £3000 to cover GoFundMe fees. If any money is left over, I will use it on resources such as mandatory reading material. I will also contribute whatever I can manage with my ad hoc nanny work. Any support would be incredible. I really believe that with this certification and tools, I can make a change in the world. If you would like to sponsor me in return for some parenting advice, please do get in contact, I would love to give back however I can.
Thank you for making it all the way to the end and for your support. I really appreciate it! For now, please feel free to check out my business Instagram: Sarah The Parenting Coach, which I will update as I go.
All my love and appreciation
