Sarah Stringfellow Vet Expenses

My name is Bailey Showalter, and I'm fundraising for my friend and co-worker, Sarah Stringfellow.

She is a 6th Grade teacher at West Noble Middle School. Her golden lab, Oliver, often accompanied her to work. In true dog fashion, he brought such joy to everyone. Oliver enjoyed spending his time playing, chewing, and snuggling anyone who was willing. Most of all, he loved being with Sarah.

Last weekend he wasn't feeling well, so Sarah took him to the vet. He was diagnosed with Pneumonia and received antibiotics. He got significantly worse on Saturday night and Sarah decided to take him to Ft. Wayne's NIVES emergency facility.

She received several different diagnoses between Saturday and Monday. Each more frustrating than the last. The final diagnosis was that he has an abscess on his esophagus making it difficult for him to eat and breathe. With an 80% success rate, they decided to do surgery to remove it late afternoon Tuesday. During surgery, they found there were two abscesses and successfully removed both.

However, later Tuesday night Sarah was notified that Oliver was having trouble breathing and NIVES wanted to put him in a brand new heavily oxygenated room, but the cost was $1,000. Sarah agreed to the cost since it would increase the chances to improve his health. He spent less than an hour in the room before the staff called to inform Sarah that Oliver didn't make it.

Not only will Sarah and her husband, Jake, have to deal with the loss of losing their beloved dog, but the veterinary bills are substantial, to say the least. Oliver was an incredibly special part of all of our lives. Many students and staff have expressed interest in contributing to the vet bills. Our 6th Grade family would like to show support by setting up this GoFundMe to extend the opportunity to anyone who knew and loved Oliver.

We continue to lift up Sarah in our thoughts and prayers. She is a wonderful member of our school and community, who is constantly going above and beyond for others. We truly appreciate that she shared Oliver's joy and love with others. Please know that any amount contributed is such a blessing.
