Sarah Simon, undergoing a major ankle surgery
Donation protected
I am making this Gofundme for my girlfriend, Sarah. She is an amazing person and so caring and helpful to so many people. Im hoping she can get the help she deserves for her 3rd upcoming surgery. This will put a major financial strain on her. We're greatful and appreciative of any financial help to lessen the struggle for her and her children. Here is her story:
We are asking for your help and support for Sarah Simon, a devoted mother of three and a compassionate caregiver who is now facing her third—and most difficult—ankle surgery due to a rare and painful bone condition.
It all began in April 2023, when Sarah experienced a fall that led to a series of medical discoveries. Imaging revealed that over 40% of the bone in her left ankle was crumbling away. On June 13, 2023, she underwent a medial malleolar osteotomy, harvest calcaneal bone graft, debridement, and placement of an allograft cartilage. Recovery was slow but steady, and Sarah was off work for five months as she dedicated herself to healing.
Sadly, at the six-month mark, Sarah's pain returned—worse than before. Her body began rejecting the allograft, and talk of a second surgery began. On June 23, 2024, she underwent a second, more invasive procedure: a cadaver graft, hardware placement, and removal of a mass. Again, she was out of work for four months, pushing her family's finances to the edge.
Tragically, Sarah’s body rejected the cadaver graft as well, causing further damage. Scans revealed that the same bone deterioration was now occurring in her right ankle and lower leg. After consultations with three orthopedic specialists, Sarah was told she now requires a third surgery—a total ankle replacement, involving more plates, screws, and bone debridement. The surgery is high risk, and if it fails, Sarah may face a lower leg amputation.
This next procedure requires Sarah to be off work for 4 to 5 months, with a total recovery period of up to 18 months. As a single mother raising three children, this long recovery will create an enormous financial burden on her and her family.
Sarah has always been a source of strength and care to others—now she needs our help.
We are raising funds to help cover:
Medical bills not covered by insurance
Transportation to and from appointments
Day-to-day expenses (rent, groceries, utilities) during her recovery
Support for her three children during this challenging time
Every donation, share, or kind word helps. Whether it’s $5 or $50, your generosity will give Sarah the breathing room she needs to heal without the added weight of financial stress. Let’s come together and help this incredible woman get back on her feet—literally and figuratively.
With love and gratitude,
Friends & Family of Sarah Simon
