Help Sarah & Red Rebuild After Carrybridge Storm

​The Story

​Sarah and Red Donlin moved from the hustle of Belfast to the quiet beauty of Fermanagh to pursue a dream: a slower pace of life living on the water. As a care worker for the elderly, Sarah has spent her days looking after the vulnerable in our community, while Red, a handyman, is always the first to offer a helping hand to others. They both regularly help out at the Cleenish centre in Bellenaleck, a Christian youth retreat.

​They found their peace on the lake, living aboard their boat with their beloved dog Stanley. But on Saturday night at Carrybridge, that dream turned into a living nightmare.

​At the height of the storm, Sarah and Red were woken at midnight by the terrifying sound of pouring water. They stepped out of bed to find their cabin already flooding. With the boat sinking rapidly, they had only 30 minutes to escape. In the dark and the rain, they scrambled to save their dog and grab the few belongings within reach before their home was submerged in the water.

​Because the boat was uninsured, Sarah and Red have not just lost their home—they have lost their entire investment and their sense of security. They are now facing the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.

​They have spent their lives caring for others and fixing things for their neighbors. Now, it is our turn to take care of them.
