Sarah Curtiss, a college senior, was driving to her student teaching placement early Thursday morning (1/19/2023) when her car got hit head-on by a semi. After getting transferred to St. Cloud, they did imaging and found the following injuries: left upper arm (humerus) open break; left lower leg (fibula and tibia) more than one break; left upper leg (femur) fracture, small right collapsed lung; right 2nd and 3rd rib fractures; right pelvis fracture; left kidney laceration; sternum fracture; fractured right ankle; and nasal bone fracture. The doctors have found a "very slight head injury" but hope that it is superficial. We are very thankful to say that her neck, brain, and aorta all look good thus far. Sarah will go through an extensive amount of surgeries and an intense recovery program. She will have to readjust many aspects of her daily living to make it accessible and can not be working for quite some time. We ask that you send thoughts, condolences, and donations to her and her family as Sarah begins a very long road to recovery.
