Sarah left this world tragically on July 17, 2019 after enjoying an evening out with friends near her LSU campus, where she was a sophomore studying biological engineering as part of LSU’s BAE FastPath program to become a Medical doctor with a PhD. Sarah was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority at LSU. She graduated last year from Destrehan High School having been chosen as Student of the Year for St. Charles Parish and went on to graduate as salutatorian of her class. In an interview with local newspaper she explained why she had chosen to pursue a career in medicine: “My goal is to improve people’s lives, hopefully in a really impactful way.” To help her realize this goal, even after this senseless tragedy, we are asking for your support to set up a lasting scholarship in her name that will enable other students pursue their dreams in the medical or engineering field. God Bless!

Friends and Family,
We are extremely appreciative and grateful for your overwhelming support, love, and contributions towards this memorial scholarship. Today we registered, through office State of Louisiana Secretary of State, for a Non-Profit to be established in name of the Sarah James Memorial Scholarship Fund. We also registered, through the IRS, for a tax identification number for Non-Profit Organization in name of Sarah James Memorial Scholarship Fund. Once we receive confirmation and related documents, we have taken steps to open an account with First American Bank and Trust of Southeast Louisiana, which will be set up to receive donation deposits and distribute future annual awards for the Sarah James Memorial Scholarship. We plan for the first scholarship to be awarded to a Destrehan High School student graduating in the Class of 2020.
Doug, Becky and Clay James
