Sarah, Isaac, and Jack's Sudden Loss
Donation protected
Hello! We are the Peachtree Ridge High School Band and we are here trying to raise money for something that happened to one of our own. If you've ever been a part of any musical ensemble - you know it's a family. And when something this sudden and this tragic takes place with one of our own.. we try and step up to do something.
Sarah Denton is a beautiful soul and a wonderful mother. She supports her children and encourages them to excel in life. Her oldest son, Isaac, is graduating from our high school on May 24, 2023. In a few short days, when it should be filled with happiness, is now going to be a trying time for this wonderful family. Sarah's husband sadly, tragically and suddenly passed on May 18, 2023.
Sarah's description of the events that took place are as follows:
"My best friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime, my love. He fought so hard, but in the end necrotic fasciitis and sepsis proved to be too fast, too nasty, too deadly.
On Mother’s Day, Matt took Jack to the park. Jack made a little friend and I guess they got on this…thing that spins really fast. I don’t know the details really, but Matt grabbed a bar on the ride to stop it from spinning. We think this caused a tear in his muscle.
Over the past week, staph got into and under the muscles in Matt’s upper arm. Unbeknownst to us, the staph turned into necrotic fasciitis and his blood turned septic. Matt ended up in the ER yesterday, and our biggest worry was that he was going to lose his arm. He underwent intensive surgery and the doctors thought they got rid of all of the dead tissue and infection.
Shortly after my post this morning, we were told Matt would need emergency surgery because his blood pressure kept dropping and the infection started to spread. We were told to call our families, and so we did. I was on the phone with my mom when I heard Code Blue. Matt’s heart had stopped, and the infection not only had spread across his chest but it had started to spread up his neck and head. The doctors tried everything, but it was too much. He passed away around 9:30 this morning.
To say we are devastated would be an understatement. We are still reeling from the loss of our BeeBee, and now we are in the midst of the worst nightmare.
Jack is ok for now. He doesn’t really understand, but I know life is going to be very hard for him. I don’t know what happens next, but I will have my boys to guide me.
Isaac is as devastated as I am. He’s been a huge source of comfort today, and this next week is going to be unbelievably hard as he graduates.
Thank you for the love, the prayers, the texts and the phone calls. I have been awake since 6:30 am yesterday, so if I don’t reply I’m sorry. I am exhausted and numb and horrified and utterly destroyed. I love you all.
Please wrap the Dentons, Forkners, Livelys, and the Reeses in prayer and comfort. This is the last thing we ever expected to happen while we have been grieving."
Please consider donating and supporting this amazing family in such a dark and confusing time.
