Sarah Hensel was the first mom my family met when we were preparing to enroll our kids in a new school. Sarah made sure her kids befriended mine. She made sure her kids looked out for my kids as they navigated being the new kids at school. Sarah and her children helped pave our way through a challenging transition. During the school year, Sarah became my friend. We started a Girl Scout Troop and Sarah was always willing to volunteer, often with little notice. When a local news station wanted to do a story about our school's unsafe playground, Sarah dropped everything. Even though she was sick with strep throat, Sarah came out and gave a full interview. Sarah was a mom who wanted to see the playground safer for the whole neighborhood.
Sarah Hensel passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2018. She leaves behind her six children, her husband and a community of kids who spent countless hours in her care as friends of the Hensel kids. Sarah's family will need money to help cover the cost of memorial services. Money will also be needed to take care of Sarah's three 2nd graders, 6th grader, 8th grader and high school sophomore as they navigate life without their mom. Please help us as we try to pave the way for Sarah's family during this challenging time.
