On December 1, 2022...Sarah passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.

For those of you who didn't know Sarah, she was the most thoughtful and giving person you could ever meet. She was the type of person that would go out of her way to help, or even compliment complete strangers. She always had this positive glow about her that would rub off on anyone who was around her.

Sarah battled Lupus from the age of 16. Lupus attacked her kidneys, resulting in her needing dialysis.

Sarah received a kidney transplant that allowed her to be off dialysis for three years, but ultimately that transplanted kidney failed as well.

Sarah spent the last 8 years going to dialysis 3-4 days a week in hopes of getting another kidney transplant.

Unfortunately, about one year ago, she discovered she had cancer on her tongue.

She went through a very difficult and complex surgery this past January, resulting in removing a majority of her tongue and creating new from other muscles.

This led to months of extensive at-home rehab, medications, dressing changes, chemotherapy once a week, and radiation 5 days a week, on top of her dialysis schedule.

And if you'd talk to Sarah, you'd have no idea how much she was going through.

She maintained a positive and upbeat attitude, determined to beat cancer and live her life as joyfully as she always had.

However, after her treatments were completed, she discovered that her cancer had spread, despite the aggressive chemo/radiation.

By her side through it all, was the love of her life for 18 years, her fiance Michael and her beloved dog Sadie.

Supported by them, other family and friends, Sarah persisted with her positivity and continued different treatments.

She never let anyone know how badly she was hurting or how sick she was.

This fall, Sarah had a setback with pain that landed her in the hospital.

She had setbacks after setbacks because if it was rare and unheard of, it happened to Sarah.

On November 30, while in the ICU, the medical team informed her family that she was at the end of her life, despite all medical treatments and her strength.

The decision was made to let her die peacefully and with dignity.

While this was the hardest decision her family has ever made, it was made to alleviate her pain and suffering, which she had been pushing through for many years.

As family works on arrangements for her funeral, we are asking if you can donate to her funeral funds...it would be greatly appreciated.

She and Michael had the beautiful opportunity to discuss her wishes, and he will be honoring those.

More information on arrangements will be known in the upcoming days.

Any money donated that surpasses what is needed for her funeral and services will be donated to The Rescue Inn, the rescue from which Sarah and Michael adopted Sadie.
