Hi all, first and foremost I want to say this is the last route I wanted to take. However, given the American healthcare system and the concerns surrounding my heart and cognitive issues, I decided along with my family that it is best to be proactive and seek medical attention.
I guess it all started when I had a therapy appointment and my therapist noticed I was experiencing cognitive issues (forgetting words, forgetting questions) I explained how for the past few months I was extremely fatigued from the moment I woke up, even if I drank coffee.
He told me to seek medical attention asap. Not wanting to be a burden to anyone, I wrote it off. Fast forward a few months and I was experiencing what I thought was a long panic attack and drove myself to the ER. My ECG came back abnormal. I scheduled a follow-up appointment with my doctor and all my doctor could do was tell me to see a cardiologist ASAP.
The latest update is a consultation I had with a cardiologist. She thinks it could be a multitude of things and has to run three tests to determine what the cause is. It could be POTS or something about how I sleep where I am not getting enough oxygen to the brain paired with a heart condition.
I have been struggling with fatigue, being unable to get out of bed for more than an hour or two a day, as well as cognitive issues as if words are falling out of my brain, and forgetfulness.
The ER bill with insurance is 2,380. There are more scheduled tests (A sleep study overnight at Stanford, an echocardiogram and ultrasound, and a stress test.) All of which my insurance won't be able to cover.
All the money raised will go directly to paying medical bills as they pile up.
I appreciate you all and know that not everyone can help. Prayers are just as appreciated as donations.
Love,
Sarah
