Update-

After a few more trips to the ER, the surgery was moved up to the beginning of May and went better than we ever could have hoped. However, a month later and the reality of the medical bills has hit, along with the medical bills from Felicity’s surgery and hospital stays. We have moved up the goal a bit, but truly, anything helps. Thank you so much.

Hi, I’m Lauren Winter and I’m raising funds for my sister Sarah. In 2012, during surgery, Sarah was diagnosed with pubic congestion syndrome when the surgeon discovered varicose veins in her uterus. She has always had painful cycles, but a month ago, things took a turn for the worse. Sarah has been in horrible pain for over a month now, she describes it as “worse than kidney stones or labor”, and it has only gotten worse.

She’s been in and out of the hospital three times so far, and continues to have tests and scans and appointments. The only viable solution going forward is a complete hysterectomy, and right now, they are booking out into mid July.

She is no longer able to drive, walk more than fifty feet, sit upright, stand for more than a few minutes, cook, clean, and is struggling to take care of her six kids.

Her husband, Kyle, just returned to work after unemployment, and is unable to get time off to help her.

On top of all of this, their four year old has been hospitalized twice this year, has had one surgery already, and will need another one soon. And a week before the pain got worse, they made the decision to pull their son from first grade and homeschool him. He is autistic and was struggling at school to the point where he wouldn’t even enter his classroom. Talking to his therapist, and teachers, re enrolling him right now would only cause further trauma.

Sarah needs to be able to hire daily help for the kids and around the home, someone who can drive her to medical appointments, help her son with his schoolwork, either someone who can make meals or the ability to pay for delivery, and help with the ever growing piles of medical bills.
