Sarah and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Donation protected
Those of you that know Sarah will need no convincing that she is simply one of a kind ( I can already hear her laugh at the title of this page). Her sense of humour, her kindness, her generosity, her love for her family and friends and her sheer wonderfulness embraces every single person she meets - and I am the luckiest person ever to be able to have her as my closest friend.

However, for those that have not yet had the privilege to meet her - I'd like to tell you a story.

A little over 3 months ago, Sarah was waiting on results to confirm if she had breast cancer or not. And after a few days, sitting in a dodgy hotel room one evening whilst working away, my phone rang with that little cactus emoji next to her name on the screen - and I held my breath.

The results were what she had suspected, a diagnosis that I can’t even begin to imagine how it would make you feel. We were on the phone for a while, she very calmly explained everything to me as I had so many questions - no tears, no sadness. We chatted, we laughed, we knew things had to be okay. She was sitting in her car outside her home, with her two rascals and hubby (equally a rascal) waiting inside for her, and when we ended our call I held my breath again for her as she went inside to tell her family. And just when I thought this woman couldn’t get any stronger, she grabbed her cape and sword and went straight to battle.

Within a month, she was scheduled for a mastectomy and the amazing medical team she had alongside her was working closely, guiding her through each process and step. Ted, the hilariously named part of her body she no longer had much love for, was on the chopping block and three days before Christmas she went in for her operation to get rid of that son of a….

Fast forward to eight weeks post-op, Sarah has shown bravery beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. Her positivity is simply infectious, her humour and laughter have not once faltered as she took on this mammoth and life-changing fight. Ted is gone, and now affectionally (and even more hilariously) named Annie takes his place - a scar that she wears with such humility.

I can’t put into words how proud I am of her and her strength. She has taken every step, and continues to do so, with such hope and positivity. Never once complaining and still showering her friends and family with such love and joy.

Now, there aren’t very many options when it comes to undergarments for a woman following a mastectomy - and let’s be honest, the ones that are out there aren’t exactly designed by the fashion minded. However, there are some that are slightly more appealing to a woman in her early 30’s such as Sarah, and she more than deserves to continue to feel as beautiful as she is. As she nears closer to the part in her recovery where she can start thinking about these next steps, I know a swarm of people that would love to help make things a little easier for her and her family.

So we created this page for the people that know her, or for people that are inspired by her story, to help take some of the load that she so gracefully carries. All funds donated in this page will go directly to Sarah and her family, for her ongoing aftercare and recovery.

Sarah we love you, our friend, our wife, our sister, our mother - our warrior.
