My daughter, Sarah, had been diagnosed with MS about eight years ago. She is now needing two surgeries at once, a tri-level cervical disc replacement and rods with fusion from C2 - T2. She will be in Harborview Hospital in Seattle for 5 - 7 days and will need to stay in Seattle near Harborview for a few days after release.
About a year ago, Kurt was diagnosed with a rare brain disease called Leukodystrophy, https://rarediseases.org/rare-diseases/leukodystrophy/
which affects different parts of the myelin sheath leading to a range of neurological problems, some of which are manifesting right now.
In short, they are both on disability and do not have the financial means to get through this time. Kurt and Sarah live in Grays Harbor County and need to rent a room where Kurt can stay at night during Sarah's hospital stay. The place they have looked into is inexpensive and provides shuttle to Harborview, which will save a great deal on parking. Kurt is unable to make the drive daily from home to Seattle due to his health concerns. Finally, when Sarah is able to leave Seattle, she will need a recliner for quite some time during her lengthy recovery as she has to sleep sitting up.
Sarah's surgery is scheduled for April 17th which is less than a month away. We are requesting enough money to cover a place for Kurt to sleep, meals, and a recliner. It is possible that at a later date there may be a need for money to cover what Sarah's disability medical insurance won't cover, which is 20% of the total bill.
