I am reaching out on behalf of my friend Kim’s daughter, Sara. Sara was 2 weeks away from delivering her first child when she discovered swelling in her neck. The doctor told her to wait until after she gave birth because sometimes pregnancy does weird things to a woman’s body. On Friday, June 12th, Sara and Chris welcomed their  beautiful baby boy, Leo.

A few days after Leo was born, Sara made an appointment with her general doctor because she had a weird feeling about the swelling in her neck. After an ultrasound, CT scan,  a biopsy of the lymph node, and a bone marrow biopsy, Sara was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Sara has seen her oncologist, had a port placed, and will be starting chemotherapy on Tuesday July 21st. Due to Covid-19 and the fact that her immunity will be severely compromised, Sara’s oncologist has recommended that she stay quarantined during her treatments. This has left her unable to work. She had to stop breastfeeding due to the chemotherapy and switch to formula. Between the copays and what insurance doesn’t cover,  along with the expense of a new born baby, it is overwhelming. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and all money raised will go directly to Sara to help pay for her medical expenses as well as allow her to take care of her newborn son.
