April 12 update: Sara is making great progress! She still has a lot of pain, but her determination pushes her through. She’s the social butterfly of the facility, and everyone knows her. With the aid of a walker, she walked 470 feet today! She’s back to hooping in her wheelchair, and is generally in good spirits! Thank you for all the donations and continued prayers!

April 10 update: She’s doing well! Still having short term memory issues, but is gaining strength in her legs. She’s expected to be in rehab for about two weeks, and will hopefully walk out!

April 7 update: The pulmonary emboli are responding to the medication! Sara was able to lift her legs on her own, and is chomping at the bit to get up and walk. She should soon be moved into the rehab facility where she'll receive intensive physical therapy. Thank you again for your overwhelming support!

April 5 update: I am absolutely blown away by the generosity of people! I cannot begin to express my thanks!

Yesterday, Sara was able to stand for a few seconds with the help of a physical therapist. She's determined and requests PT constantly! In a few days, she will be moved to a rehab facility which will have her doing intensive physical therapy - about 3 hours a day. Keep the prayers flowing!

Dear friends, on March 22, my beautiful daughter, Sara (Sahar), overdosed on nitrous oxide (whippets). She is in the hospital, with serious, and possibly life threatening or permanent disabilities. She currently has multiple bilateral lung blood clots and pneumonia. She cannot walk and is showing some cognitive dysfunction, particularly short term memory and confusion. She's looking at months of rehab and counseling, God willing.

Sahar's medical insurance is inadequate, at best. I've already seen the first EOB with about $10,000 being her responsibility - for one night. She's been in the hospital now for five days, with another three-five expected before she is transferred to a rehab facility for intensive physical therapy. She has had countless CTs, tests, and MRIs, all adding to the already unaffordable bill.

Sahar was an avid volleyball coach, and the thought of her never coaching again devastates both of us.

I never thought I would resort to "online begging," but I cannot help her financially. Trying to help her has broken me financially. Her medical expenses will be exorbitant, so with her permission, I've created this Go Fund Me.

If you're able, please help.
