Sara and her kids need your help!

Sara is a single mom of 6. Originally a sponsored refugee, she has been a US citizen for the past 20 years. After sustaining multiple injuries in 2020, Sara has not been able to work consistently and has exhausted her savings to provide for her family. Her youngest children are ages 8, 14, and 17.
Sara and I first met at Fellowship Bible Church – Dallas 15 years ago where our children attended the kids ministry program together. Sara has served her friends and family for years and her church as an usher and in kids ministry. In 2015, she and the kids moved from Dallas to South Dakota for better work. Unfortunately, she had to leave her good-paying job at the meat packing facility in October of 2020 due to severe back and leg pain and right wrist issues. She sought medical treatment but only received pain management instead of a diagnosis of the cause. This pain management allowed her to secure a few contract jobs, however, the pain was so intense that she had to stop working in October 2021. Desperate, Sara applied for short-term disability; she was denied.
Her pain becomes especially severe when standing or sitting for long periods, and there’s no relief while sleeping. She’s also lost the use of her right wrist (which is pretty severe because she is right-handed). She continues to seek a diagnosis and pain relief from the Medicaid clinic, but without results. We are considering an evaluation by the Mayo Clinic. Sara desperately desires to get well and get back to work.
Sara consistently pursues community resources; South Dakota Social Services has been helpful with food stamps and temporary rent relief. She has also received assistance from her church, but it
has limited resources after the pandemic. Her 17-year-old and her 24-year-old daughters work to help out with the bills, however, they are more than what they can make at childcare and a daycare facility.
Craig (my husband) and I have walked beside Sara through these difficulties. Recently, I visited her and the kids for a week to encourage her, support her, and assess her situation. With three children still at home, we need your help. We need your prayers that Sara will be healed, that Social Security will approve disability payments, AND we urgently need your financial help!
Our goal is to raise money for the kids’ school needs, rent, utilities, gas, and car maintenance through January.
I will be in charge of your donations and will send money to Sara as bills become due. I will continue to update you all as her circumstances change.
PLEASE HELP! Sara’s family needs our prayers and we need you to come alongside us with your generous support!!
Love and Blessings, Robin, Craig, and Sara
