Sean suffered an Anoxic Brain Injury on December 18, 2014 after choking at dinner. The injury was due to lack of oxygen and blood to his brain brought on by cardiac arrest. The motor control areas of both hemispheres of his brain are damaged. Sean fights daily with spasticity and rigidity of his limbs and is re-learning how to speak and walk.
Sean was in a medially induced coma off and on for a month. He had many issues and close calls during his battle to come back. As he woke up he communicated with blinks for yes and no. The doctors and nurses thought we were crazy and that he was going to stay in a vegetative state. We asked them to take him off some of the medications we thought were causing his drowsiness and we brought in an acupuncturist and Sean came back to us.
Thanks to Sean’s strength, determination and all of our love and support he has made amazing progress over the last 4 months. He is walking with a walker, speaking more clearly each day, working on his fine motor skills and doing all the daily activities necessary for his recovery and return to his normal life.
We are doing all that we can to insure Sean's life and home stay in tack during his recovery. We are reaching out to all his friends and family to help with his medical insurance payments until he can return to work. Please help if you can.
