Help Amber Fight Cancer

Donation protected
About a year ago, I was asked by a friend to help them dig up, load, and unload 2 tons of brick. Without hesitation, I helped.

Today, about a year later, if I were asked to assist my friend with the task, I would have to decline.

Hello Everyone. My name is Amber and I have cancer.

A year ago, I introduced myself in a completely different manner with a completely different line opener.

Now that the introductions have been made, let’s discuss the elephant in the room.

My husband Ethan, and I have four children between the two of us. We have an 8-year-old son, 13-year-old son, 16-year-old daughter, and 18-year-old son.

When Ethan and I received the cancer diagnosis, one of our first struggles was trying to find the right time, strength, and words to be able to tell the children.

As the weeks went by, the children were questioning why I wasn’t wrestling with them, playing soccer, playing football, sleeping on the couch, and not working. Shortly after that, we realized that the children needed to know. We then told the children.

I currently have cancer in both my breasts, right lung, liver, and in my right distal tibia.

I am currently awaiting my double mastectomy.

My last treatment of red devil chemotherapy was on March 13th.

I currently take chemotherapy pills and will for the next 2 years.

Over the next 6 months, I will be undergoing 3 surgeries. I will have my double mastectomy with spacer placement. Then once a week for 3-4 months, I have to see the plastic surgeon and have him tear and stretch the chest cavities to make room for my new implants. After 3-4 months, I then go in the operating room to have my new implants placed. 2 months after that, the plastic surgeon will correct any defects with the new implants.

The surgical process should be 6 months in total.

I will then have my body reevaluated for cancer.

My family and I are reaching out and asking our friends and family for assistance.

I have been out of work for a substantial amount of time. Traveling back and forth to the hospital for treatments and appointments has incurred a significant amount spent on gas and copays.

I will not be able to work over the next 6 months due to surgeries. There is also an ongoing expected cost associated with the next 6 months of surgeries and appointments.

As we fight the cancer for the next 6 months, my family and I ask for any assistance you and your family may be able to provide. We truly thank you for your support during this hardship.
