Sapphire’s Surgery Fund
Sapphire is my 16 year old sister.
She was diagnosed with a rare incurable disease at the age of 6. Neurofibromatosis Type-2 (NF2) is a rare & incurable genetic disorder that affects around 1 in every 40,000 people, and the rate of noncancerous (benign) tumour growth is different in each sufferer.
Sapphire, required an emergency craniotomy at age 6 to remove a 3cm tumour from the lining of her brain.
Sapphire also has tumours remaining in the lining of her brain, several tumours on her spinal cord, on the nerves to her ears already causing hearing issues and more on the optic nerves which have already begun to affect her vision and ocular movement.
For a surgery that could potentially save her sight and hearing costs $200,000 PER TUMOUR. Please help us move towards achieving Sapphire maintaining a quality of life for as long as possible.
