Last year we got the devastating news that most families will ultimately sadly hear, that your loved one has cancer, and we couldn’t really comprehend what was to come. When Granda’s Cancer developed to the point that home care wasn’t a really viable option anymore he was placed in the Northern Health Trusts Macmillan Unit in Antrim to receive palliative care. He was there for nearly three months before he got beaten by his cancer, but it was there that we got that extra bit of time with him, where he was given the chance to have a more dignified death with a disease that took everything from him. We as a family saw first hand the work that the hardworking men and woman who work in the unit, who faithfully and tirelessly gave first class care not only to him but to us as-well, so on the first anniversary of Granda’s death i have decided to do something to give back to the unit, who fund themselves entirely through donations, in a way of thanks to the people that looked after him.

So on Saturday Night 17th of June i am having a fundraiser in The Central Bar in Cushendall to raise money for the unit, there will be music and it’s where i am going to brave the shave in memory of my Granda Vincey and i would like to invite you all to come and join me and raise money for such a special cause!
