Hello, I am Daisy’s daughter, Rosanne, and I am also David’s niece. We are in absolute shock from the sudden loss of our beloved Uncle David on Monday March 13, 2023.
He was visiting California after a long absence and he was tragically taken too soon-too soon for us to reunite with him and give him a big big hug. I was lucky to have spoken with him the night he arrived and looked forward to him staying with me the next day as he was just the coolest uncle ever! I was lucky to have frequent text messages from him and messaging on social media. I always ended our exchange telling him that I loved him and missed him dearly. He always played with us as kids, told us stories, took us for rides on his motorcycle, and shared with me his love for music and food. As I said, he was the coolest uncle ever!
As a kid I started working for him doing catering prep at 12 years old for the LA Marathon and went on to work with him, along with Aunt Ruthie and my mom, as his catering business grew. We spent many years catering events at the Rose Bowl; UCLA football games, concerts, LA Galaxy soccer and the World Cup. He was a constant support for his sisters and they were for him as well, and he was always someone I could rely on throughout my entire life. He even catered and hosted my wedding at his home in Altadena in 2001. Uncle David packed it all up in 2005 and moved far off to start a new chapter in his life. We hadn’t seen him in person for 10 years but he always kept in touch.
I am lucky to have spent so much time working with my dear Uncle David, spending countless hours just taking in all he had to share. I will always cherish all of those memories.
The funds raised will go toward services and a Celebration of Life for Uncle David. Date to be announced. We hope you may share this with the greater Gonzalez family and close friends. Thank you!
