Saoirse jumps for OSS Cork

Hi everyone. I have some exciting news. This August I will be doing a Tandem Skydive to raise much needed funds for OSS Cork. OSS Cork was founded in 2000 and provides Emotional and Practical Support in a safe and confidential environment to all adult victims of Domestic Violence.

Domestic Violence comes in many different forms that sometimes we are a bit ignorant to. Just because somebody may not have been physically or sexually abused, does not mean that they have not been abused.

Psychological and Emotional abuse are also prevalent. Emotional abuse is any behaviour exploiting the victim’s insecurity, vulnerability, or character. Examples of such behaviours include degradation, brainwashing, manipulation, intimidation, pathological lies and false narratives or control of the other partner to the individual’s detriment. These acts create confusion and insecurity in the victim which can result in very serious mental health conditions.

Another serious act of Domestic Violence is Financial Abuse. This can manifest as the abuser wielding their influence over financial resources in the relationship to oppress the victim. It can also be when a non-working partner uses money without the working partners authorization or knowledge or lies to them about their true financial circumstances and career.

I am so excited to undertake this challenge on behalf of such an important and meaningful organization here in Cork.
