I have been dealing with chronic knee pain since I was in high school as a multi-sport athlete. Over the years, I have spent a lot of time, money, and energy on acupuncture, doctor appointments, chiropractors, and x-rays, all in an effort to get someone to listen to me about my knee pain.
At the beginning of 2026, my knee became swollen and I was unable to move, walk, or bear weight on my right leg. I returned to my doctor and finally received a referral for an MRI. The results showed high grade fissuring and delamination of cartilage behind my patella—essentially, my cartilage is cracked and breaking down because my patella is unstable and continues to dislocate. Each time it pops back into place, the cartilage scrapes against the bone, causing even more damage and pain.
After years of searching for answers, I am scheduled for MPFL reconstruction surgery to stabilize my patella and hopefully decrease the pain from constant dislocations. This surgery means I will be away from work for at least 12 weeks, unable to drive, work, or bear weight for the first 6 to 8 weeks. I also won’t be able to take care of my dogs or walk them during this time, which is incredibly difficult for me.
The funds I raise will go toward medical expenses, recovery supplies like knee braces and pain relief, groceries, and dog care while I recover. Any support during this challenging time would mean the world to me. Thank you for considering helping me on my road to recovery.
