Santina’s Big Adventure

Help Us Take Santina on Her Final Journey

From hospital rooms to mountain views… one final adventure.

Hi, my name is Santina.

I was born on 17 February, during Chinese New Year, and although my time on Earth was far too short, I filled my family’s hearts with more love than they ever thought possible.

A few weeks before I gained my angel wings, doctors discovered that I had an incredibly rare disease called Clarkson’s Disease, also known as Systemic Capillary Leak Syndrome (SCLS). It is so rare that only a handful of children around the world have ever been diagnosed with it.

I spent much of my short life in hospital, but that is not how my family wants you to remember me.

They remember my smile, my curious little eyes, my cheeky personality, my tiny stinky socks, and how much I loved being cuddled. They remember how I laughed, played, discovered the world around me and filled every room with happiness. Even in hospital, there were so many beautiful moments. My mum and dad made sure every day was filled with love, comfort and kisses. I was never alone.

During my final episode, the disease suddenly attacked my brain and kidneys. Despite every effort from an incredible team of doctors and nurses, my little body could no longer keep fighting.

On 26 June, I peacefully gained my angel wings.

Before all of this happened, Mum and Dad had a dream. They wanted to take me on an adventure to discover the places where my family comes from.

Sadly, we never had that chance.

Now, they want to keep that promise.

They hope to carry a small portion of my ashes to the summit of Machu Picchu, where I can rest among the mountains of my mother’s ancestors. They also hope to take me to Croatia, so I can finally visit the homeland of my father’s family.

They are journeys of love, remembrance and healing.

They are the adventures my parents dreamed of sharing with me. Although I can no longer walk beside them, they want me to continue the journey in the only way we can now.

If you are able to support our family in making this final journey home possible, we would be forever grateful.

Every donation, every share and every kind message helps us honour Santina’s life, celebrate the joy she brought into this world, and keep the promise we made to our beautiful little girl.

Thank you for helping us give Santina the adventure she never got to take.

Forever loved.
Forever missed.
Forever our little girl.
