Santana is a delightful 26 year old young man who is profoundly deaf and mute. He is originally from New Zealand, arrived in Australia with his family going on 6 years ago and settled in Toowoomba. Unfortunately, Santana has been unwell and has spent some time in hospital. He has recovered well and is now ready for independency in the community.
However Santana does not have full Australian Residency, therefore he does not qualify for receiving Australian Government Support currently, nor financial support from New Zealand. Until his residency is approved, which takes time, he has no funds to be established in rental accommodation, to integrate into the Community, work, develop a social and contribute to society.
He will require, at least $15,000 for ongoing medications and to fund his residency application, for rental bond and the first few months of rent in independent accommodation until his formal documentation is completed.
