Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support. My name is Santana Lang, I am 18 years old and live with my mum, Leonie Brown. We have lived in our flat for the past 17 years – it has always been our home.
On 20.08.25, we experienced a devastating house fire that I had to escape from. The fire did not start in our property, but sadly we were affected the most. In just a moment, everything was destroyed. We have lost all of our belongings – our clothes, essentials, cherished memories, and, most painfully, the sense of security that comes with having a home.
Since the fire, we have been left homeless. Despite reaching out for help, we are not receiving much support from the council or our landlord, and it feels like we’ve been left on our own to cope with this. Right now, we are trying to get by, moving between my mum’s car and a hotel when possible — but it is not sustainable, and it’s taking a huge toll on us both.
This tragedy has come at an already heartbreaking time for us. Only recently, my 17-year-old uncle was tragically murdered, and the grief has been overwhelming for me and my mum. Facing this fire on top of that has left us struggling more than ever.
My mum works so hard as a family assessment worker, and I am currently studying for a teaching apprenticeship. We are determined to rebuild our lives, but we cannot do it alone. Thats why I’m reaching out for help
Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. It will help us rebuild our lives, replace essentials, and find stability again after so much loss. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading and for any support you can give.
With gratitude,
Santana Lang
