CZU Fire Relief for Douglas Kracl Bonny Doon
On Thursday August 20th one the fires burning reached homes in the Santa Cruz mountain community of Bonny Doon. Many older folks retired to this mountain community and lost everything. My grandpa Douglas Kracl, is 84 and a home owner for 40+ years in the Santa Cruz mountains on Empire Grade..which all to most has been lost in the CZU lightning complex fire. Grandpa loves this mountain and his neighbors do too. I saw the work they did first hand for the land up there and this was their worst nightmare. Doug was underinsured. I am trying raise money for my grandfather Doug, his home and the neighborhood pictured here. First and foremost he needs a new RV to live in because the one he had was lost in the fire.
This mountain holds a special place in my heart, as I grew up visiting my grandfathers home along with many friends who enjoyed the mountains beauty. My grandfather lost everything besides the clothes on his back and his little dog. He worked hard his whole life and never asked for anything. He has terminal cancer and despite his battle he has continued to been a light in everyone’s life. He took my brother and I in when we had no one and we spent all major holidays at this home that burned. He is always trying to help others, he bakes, sews, camps and cracks jokes. I was afraid to tell him the news when I learned but he’s being so strong. Many plan to rebuild so anything will help in this process. These funds will go directly to Doug Kracl and neighbors who wish to rebuild. We are hoping to get a new motor home for Doug so he can be on the land and start the process of rebuilding this nook of the mountain community. Thank you all from the deepest parts of my heart❤️ #santacruzmountainstrong
