Sangay's Bhutanese Heritage Home

Culture cannot be bought. It cannot be ordered, contracted, or built by anything but the natural course of human actions over time. That's why it needs to be preserved.
Greetings. My name is Tai, and I'm running this GoFundMe campaign on behalf of my fiancée, Sangay, who lives in Bhutan. We met when I stayed at her guesthouse in Punakha, the old capital of Bhutan and the seat of its richest and most long-standing traditions. Her homestay's mission is to preserve and showcase the intricacy of traditional Bhutanese architecture, farming practices, and recreational activities for locals and travelers to enjoy. The house itself is over 120 years old and is built solely of wood and rammed earth, in the traditional style. It is filled with cultural heirlooms and artifacts and boasts a traditional bathhouse heated by fired stones. It is a marvel of old-time charm.
In 2018, Sangay took out loans to have the house repaired so that it could become a fully operational guesthouse. She would have been able to pay them off easily with the proceeds from the business, but when COVID hit Bhutan, the borders closed and tourism halted, and it has not yet resumed. That's why she needs $10,000 to pay off the loans. For the cost of a used car, we can make a real impact on history.
Please help us to ensure her property does not fall into the hands of creditors, so that the unique and beautiful culture of Bhutan can be preserved for all to see. Who knows? Perhaps one day you can experience this heritage homestay!
With the deepest gratitude and heartfelt blessings,
Tai and Sangay
