Sandy's Heart Surgery

Hi, my name is Amanda; I am raising funds for my mother, Sandra Showell, for bills and unexpected expenses incurred since she entered the hospital in September.

On September 17th, my mom was admitted to the hospital for congestive heart failure and AFIB. My mom remained hospitalized for 12 days. 2 weeks after she was released from the hospital, my mom was taken back to the emergency room on Friday October 14th, at 2:30 am. That same day at 10:30 in the evening, my mother was flown to the University of Maryland in Baltimore City. My mom had an aneurysm in her heart which had essentially left a hole in her heart that had to be urgently repaired. After making sure my mother was stable enough, she underwent life-saving surgery on Tuesday, October 18th. Mom endured a 5-hour open heart surgery to correct multiple issues with her heart. As of today (October 21st), my mom remains hospitilized, recovering from her surgery. The hope is she will be able to come home in another week.

Before my mother's first admission into the hospital, she worked four days a week and taught dancing on the side. Since September 17th, my mother has only worked three days. Now with her surgery and her expected long recovery period ahead, it is unknown when or if she will be able to return to work. Since she cannot work and has had unexpected expenses due to her hospitalization, we are asking for any help to take the stress and burden of bills off of her.
