After the Wild Fire

This is a picture my Grandmother, Sandra Medina, she is 83 years old and the aftermath of the wildfire in Kern Valley, CA. Her and her husband, Phil Green, recently lost their home in Weldon, CA and storage that held pretty much all of their personal belongings and family memorabilia on June 25, 2016. Thankfully, they and their dog, Casey made it out of the property alive and unharmed.

My grandmother and her husband moved to Weldon, CA about 5 years ago. They had always dreamed of living on a ranch and building the home of their dreams together and they finally did it.  Phil spent the past 5 years with his bare hands and little help building the this home. Meanwhile, they lived in a 100 sq ft trailer nearby on the property. The home was to be finished by the end of the year. But, on that afternoon, their life dreams that they had worked so hard for, along with so much history, simmered into ashes.

Our hope is that in the midst of this devastation the assistance of others (people like you) will help re-assure to my Grandmother Sandy and Phil that all is not lost afterall.

Any donation will help and be greatly appreciated.

With the utmost Grattitude,
Jamie, Ryan, and Marty Wade

The house, below, before and under construction last spring and the aftermath. They were about 3 or 4 weeks from getting our occupancy permit with the county building dept., we would have then been able to move in and then finish up inside as we went along. No insurance company would issue us homeowners insurance until we had the occupancy permit. So they had no homeowners insurance as a backup. This has been a total loss for them.  They had invested all our retirement fund into the house. They lost everything they own except what was in the travel trailer, it was the only thing that survived.

Below, a photo of them this last spring in happier times and a Photo of Phil talking with county and state relief workers. To their understanding, there was an article about us in the Los Angeles Times newspaper this last week. They haven't seen it. They know you have the expertise to look back through back issues to find it and use it.
