Sandy Martin has had a lasting influence on student success throughout her career in education. Nothing would have pleased her more than continuing to help students achieve their educational success. With that in mind, her family has decided to honor Sandy's memory by establishing a scholarship fund in her name.
The Sandy Martin Memorial Scholarship:
Sandy has been a long-time advocate for student education as she committed herself to quality educational services for NISEC students. As a remarkable teacher, and then later a diagnostician to ensure children with special needs were identified (and received the necessary services), Sandy worked in the Highland School District for over 20 years. She had a successful career even with a cancer diagnosis, which slowly over 6 years, ended her education tenure. Although she hid her physical struggles from many who knew her, she still overpowered pain to be the best she could be for all those around her. All Sandy ever wanted was to make a life-changing educational impact and if you ever had the chance to be around her, you know exactly what passion we are referencing.
After Sandy became a mom of two wonderful children, she continued to help many students, and of course, placed her own children at the forefront of her education desires. She, and her husband Curt, chose a school they believed their own children would thrive in. They have been truly thankful and blessed by the students and staff at the boys current school and it was Sandy's desire that they continue to attend. This scholarship is designed first and foremost, to honor Sandy's wishes and her memory not only to help her own children, but other students with financial needs as well.
In lieu of flowers, Sandy's family & friends wish to establish an on-going educational scholarship fund (that can be donated to at any time) where the blessing may be passed along in the future. Information for future scholarship donations will be coming to all who participate in this first round. Again, it is our desire to help with Sandy's children, but also other students and families, in the future, who find themselves in a health or financial situation and need assistance. I can't think of a better way to honor Sandy's memory than to let her passion "live on" in the future educational success of not only her kids, but other kids as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider what you can do, any amount makes a difference.
