Wife, mother, friend, band teacher, coach, assistant principal, curriculum director, principal, softball cheerleader... these words describe this very energetic, positive woman.  When the news came that she had cancer, she did not ask, "Why me?"  She simply stated, "God must have a plan!" 
 
Labor Day weekend of 2017 seemed like an ordinary weekend.  Sure, one starts to feel tired as one gets older.  However for Sandy Lundberg, age 52,  there was something more scary happening.  On Friday, September 8, Sandy went to a chiropractor due to some hip pain that was shooting pain down her leg.  After an x-ray, she was advised to see her family physician.  By Monday, September 11, the pain was severe.  After finally convincing a physician to see her on Wednesday, September 13, she was hospitalized.  After many tests, the news was given to her.  She had  cancer.  She was sent home with pain medicine to help with the pain.  By Monday, September 18, she was back in the hospital.  This time at the Phoenix Mayo Hospital.  

After more tests, prayers were asked for that her cancer would be treatable through targeted therapy.  The Mayo Hospital team started a plan. They set out to help with pain management.  She began with steroids and nerve medication,   After 5 radiation treatments to her spine, the pain level went down to a manageable level.  Finally on October 9th, the call came.  She is a candidate for targeted therapy.  Right now the Rochester Mayo Clinic is creating the right combination to slow down/pause the cancer from continuing to grow. Rochester Mayo will then send her the Chemo,   She is hoping to start targeted therapy chemotherapy by October 19th.  

The funds will be used to help pay for medical bills and to help with loss of income as Sandy starts the hardest fight.   She presently has a 17 year old and an 11 year old.  Her husband is home helping with her medical needs.
