Sandro Fucci

Sandro Fucci

On Friday 23rd February 2024, just after 1700 hours, we lost a dear friend, husband, brother, father and colleague, Sandro Fucci
who devastatingly passed away with a heart attack after falling ill at work. Some may be aware that me and Sandro are very close friends, though for the purposes of work, we of course remained professional, or as professional as I can be that is... the odd hug may have slipped in at the office…

Me and Sandro were friends for around 9/10 years. We used to work together in the night time economy as security and stayed in touch when we moved on. I would like to share with you a snippet of what sort of a man Sandro was. Put simply, he was one of the nicest, most loving and humble men on this planet. A true TRUE gentleman who had no enemies and was loved by everyone who knew him.

I was elated when Sandro came to work with me after we stopped working in security together. I was able to have a good friend back close with me and he was so concerned about doing everything right. He made a few small mistakes which knocked his confidence and he was worried about passing his probation. When I saw him for his probation review, and I informed him he had passed his probation, he shed a tear with me. He was very proud of himself. He is a man who will apologise before he even speaks, as if he was bothering you when he wanted to ask something, or felt what he was saying was silly. That was Sandro.

I'll share with you a story which sums Sandro up perfectly I think. We were working as door supervisors or 'bouncers' as some may refer to it. It was a small venue and we were a small team of 4. One night after we had closed, a male who was around 6 foot 7 and built like Brock Lesnar (look him up) approached us and tried to walk into the venue holding a lead pipe. We had just shut the doors. He wasn't interested in us, he seemed to want to enter to speak with one of the staff. When we stopped him, he raised the lead pipe. Sandro put on his angry voice and made it clear he would not be coming in. No fear at all. After a bit of back and forth, the male decided it in his best interest to leave. He walked back towards his car. At this point Sandro began to do a kind of victory dance and he went from 'serious Sandro' to 'fun Sandro' in a flash and started dancing. What Sandro didnt realise, is that as he was doing this 'victory dance', the male had decided to return. Sandro had his back to him and continued dancing as he approached. I tried to subtly tell him the male was coming back. By the time Sandro understood, the male was back on our doorstep with the lead pipe in his hand. Sandro instantly slipped back so 'serious Sandro' and again we tussled with the male until he once again retreated to his car and this time left the area.... annnddd the dance continued.

Sandro was respected by anyone who visited Bournemouth and was a well known face working at various venues over the years. When you spend periods of time standing shoulder to shoulder with someone in dangerous situations you form a different kind of bond, almost like a brotherhood. Watching each others back week in week out. I was so happy to be able to see him change careers and work with me at our local bus company. He loved doing this, albeit for a short time, having only started in June 2023.

Sandro leaves behind his wife Sharon, 2 sons and a daughter here in England as well as many MANY friends and work colleagues. The rest of his family mostly live in Italy, including his brother, (who by the way is almost a mirror image of sandro). Im very happy to be able to be a bridge between Sandro's two lives / groups of friends. One as a hero in the night time economy and one as a beloved colleague of our local bus company. As such I hope to be able to support his family by bringing everyone together who knew Sandro and raising as many funds as possible to help give Sandro the send off he so rightfully deserves.

If anyone has any photos of Sandro, we have a group that we are using to collate as many as possible. Please do pass these on to me :)

Sandro is/was a hero. At every point in his life. Even in his final moments, he made sure he pulled over safely for his passengers before 'it' happened. He even apologised to the supervisors on duty for bothering them with his phone call when he reported feeling unwell. This is just typical Sandro. I am devastated that I will never be able to hug my friend again and it has been very difficult since his passing, as i'm sure it has for those of you who knew him or got to know him over the years.

Thank you for those who made it this far reading. I just wanted to share this information. It's the least I could do for someone I hold very dear to me. I ask that even if its just a pound, please help us in giving this hero and legend a send off fitting of the man that is Sandro Fucci.

Thanks everyone. Stay safe.
